Post subject: Board Archives Are on the Way!

Hey guys,
Okay, now I don't know about you guys, but I get pretty nostalgic about these posts of ours. I lament when they fall off the board and I no longer get to read them or respond to them. I feel that somehow a piece of ToD, a unique and beautiful piece that we have all created by engaging and interacting with each other, has disappeared, and to me, that's a real shame.

Well, Craig, Deborah, and I have cooked up a way to solve that. Introducing...

Sleeping Logs: The HUM90 Message Board Archives

&

The Road to Long Been: The Tour of Duty Fans Message Board Archives

tuh-Tuh-TUH!

It will be housed on the Bravo forum: http://bravo344.com/forum/index.php

Here's how it will work:
I am manually saving posts from the boards. (Don't worry, I have the Bengay ready.) When a thread falls off one of the boards, I will put the posts that were in that thread into the Archives. For your reference and reading and conversation-resurrecting enjoyment, here, there, or wherever.

I feel that part of the enjoyment and celebration of ToD is its preservation, and that most definitely includes the things that we Fans (that's right, Fans with a capital F) have to say about it. And in having an archive, our love of ToD is not only documented, it can also be used for building on. Yes, more and deeper thoughts on why Alex and Nikki stink, but Jennifer doesn't! Why Hock and Horn are two different victims of conscience. Or are they? Why the last episode Payback was devastating but ended true to the spirit of the series. Or why it was obviously supposed to lead to a Season Four, having left our two main characters high and dry, and what we'd like to have done about it. Do you think we will ever stop talking about ToD or finish what we have to say about it? I say, hell no. We will never finish. But it sure would help if we could see what all we've started.

That said, it's just little ole' me doing the archiving, so it's not going to be a true archive, but a partial one. There are some things that just don't make sense to archive, like FAQ-type posts, time-sensitive posts like "Stephen Caffrey on TV tomorrow," etc. I will do my best to archive all those things that might be the sort of things we ToD fans will want to keep around for more discussion. Or research. Or just plain laughs for old time's sake.

I also realize that these posts are rightfully yours, and that anything you write is considered your intellectual property and copyright you. So, in addition to duly noting that on the disclaimer of the Bravo site, I also respect anyone's wishes not to have their posts archived. If you do NOT want your posts archived, please email me at the link of my name above, and I will ensure that your posts don't get archived.

Well, what do you guys think? A GIGANTIC thanks to Craig and Deborah for giving this idea the thumbs-up, and Craig for his ideas and that oh-so-lovable name: "Sleeping Logs."

Now we can awake some bygone conversations from their slumber. We can travel paths well-worn but never dull. And we can post like crazy, crazier than ever before, and never have to feel bad about sending somebody else's posts clear into oblivion.

Cheers,
Erika (the long-winded poster formerly known as "kle")

Post subject: Board archives now on a user-contributed basis!

A while back (and one post above, LOL), you may remember me offering to host and maintain partial archives of the posts from the HUM90 and Tour of Duty Fan Page message boards. Since then, I have saved several posts onto my computer that I will be reposting onto the forum over the next few months.

However, I will no longer continue to do the actual work of archiving messages from other message boards. The reason is I just don't have the time to do it. (Hard to believe, I know, I know... what can I say??)

I will still very gladly host archives, and anyone is welcome to save posts from other boards by copying and pasting (reposting) posts into this Archive section of the Bravo344 forum. Just please remember to give credit to the author of the original post as well as the website where the post was originally posted. Also, please remember that to post on Bravo344, you will need to be registered.

Later, Erika
