Episode Summary
Humor abounds in this very tragic story early on, but ends with a stongly emotional and grievous Zeke Anderson. This story tells about the effects of the war on all age levels of the Vietnamese people. And that in turn has devastating effects on the proud, big, tender hearted Americans. The Vietnamese soldiers ranged in ages from a minutes old boy to a 12 year old VC boy to an elderly woman fighting for her nannie goat.
The basic story unfolds as we watch a newborn infant win the hearts of Baker and Johnson instantly. The brusque and protective Sergeant tries to be resistant to the spell of the newborn, Judd, but he could not resist the plaintive wail of a tiny fellow orphan. This story shows the valiant efforts to fight the war for the small Vietnamese mountain boy and the heart wrenching defeat. This episode should have a disclaimer. Be warned! You will experience the full spectrum of emotions in this story, from glee to gloom to sympathy. You will surely agree with this writer that this was Tour of Duty at it's best and one of it's finest hours! (By Ernie)
