[1:49] Mail Call!
SOLDIERS [o.s.]: All right! Right On! Aaah ha.
ANDERSON: Listen up, mail call. Are y'all ready to defend democracy this morning?
JOHNSON: Whole state of Mississippi's sleeping better just to know we're beating up on the dinks.
PERCELL: Yeah, we ought to be defending the chastity of American womanhood.
RUIZ: I ain't fighting for that.
ANDERSON: All right, everybody just relax now. We got one little patrol this morning and then we got passes to go into the ville.
TAYLOR: Yeah.
RUIZ: Yeah, ha.
PERCELL: All right, that's what I like to hear.
TAYLOR: Gimme that purple one, I know that's for me.
HORN: Ooo, she's still using that horrible perfume, Marcus.
TAYLOR: Do you mind, Horn?
HORN: It stinks.
MATSUDA: Like a match.
RUIZ: Hey, you got more rabbit-pill cookies, huh?
PERCELL: Chocolate chip cookies, Roo, and stay away from them.
TAYLOR: Damn. Wanda says she don't love me no more.
PERCELL: Aw, you were close, too, huh?
TAYLOR: That don't mean nuthin'. I still got Iris, Sheena, and Loretta on the string. Let's see what Marlene got to say... "Dear Marc," I like that.
PERCELL: Let me see that.
TAYLOR: "Dear—"
PERCELL: "Dear Marc—"
TAYLOR: Come on, man.
PERCELL: "I was sorry to hear about your being wounded. You're such a brave man risking your life to save your friends. I've been watching television every night hoping to see the ceremony you told me about where the general gives you the medal for bravery." Medal for bravery!
TAYLOR: Can I have my letter? Do you mind? Ain't nuthin' sacred around here any more?
PERCELL: I guess not.
TAYLOR: What are you laughing at?
PERCELL: Medal for bravery.
JOHNSON: Hey, hey, hey, hey look at this. "Sergeant Clayton Z. Anderson."
RUIZ: Who's that?
PERCELL: It's the sarge, who do ya' think?
HORN: Whoa, he never gets any mail.
JOHNSON: He ain't got no family, that's why. He had a wife and a baby daughter, but they split.
BAKER: Is that really from them? Damn, he's gonna be happy to get that.
JOHNSON: We'll find out.
BAKER: Yeah we will.
HORN: Here, Baker.
[3:24] Sarge You've Got Mail!
JOHNSON: Hey Sarge, there's one here for you.
ANDERSON: One what?
JOHNSON: A letter, and it looks like it's from your wife.
CAROL ANDERSON (voice-over from letter): Dear Zeke, I know it's been a long time, but I just wanted to let you know how Katie is doing. She's a healthy little girl who eats like a horse and looks like an angel. She's just had her third birthday. She's growing up so fast, Zeke. Before I know it she'll be going out on dates. We moved back to Chapel Hill last summer. We're living at my mom's again. Not the greatest but it'll do for now. Zeke, Katie is asking questions about her daddy. I know she's still very young, but something from you would mean so much to her down the road. Please, if you can, write. Love..."
GOLDMAN: Anderson, the war's waiting on you.
[4:42] Platoon On The Rice Paddies
RADIO: And roger, Foxtrot (air support on the way (?)) Echo Tango Alpha, one mike ((?))
RADIO: All right, Bluebird, copy. We need your position.
RADIO: Eagle One, Eagle One, this is Eagle Three. Request your location. Over.
RADIO: No, no, negative, negative. You have to be looking to your Sierra. Over.
ANDERSON: There's something out there, LT.
RADIO: We have a downed chopper—
GOLDMAN: Looks pretty clear to me.
RADIO: Five klicks Sierra...
ANDERSON: Horn, turn down that radio.
RADIO: This is Long Horn on that downed chopper—
ANDERSON: Can you hear that?
RADIO: [inaudible]
GOLDMAN: I don't hear a thing.
ANDERSON: Wait 'til the wind dies down. There's something out in that tree line, LT.
HORN: Could be that ARVN platoon.
RADIO: We've got enemy fire...
GOLDMAN: Well, there's only one way to find out. Horn... Bravo Six, this is Bravo Two-Six. Over.
RADIO: This is Bravo Six. Go ahead.
GOLDMAN: Six, I've got a possible contact to my November. Do you have any friendlies in our sector? Over.
RADIO: Negative, Two-Six. You've got no friendlies in your area. Keep tracking.
GOLDMAN: Two-Six Roger. Out.
GOLDMAN: Let's move.
ANDERSON: Nuh-uh, LT, I think we ought to go around.
GOLDMAN: Sergeant, we're on a schedule. We're gonna move straight across.
ANDERSON: No, I'll check it out.
[6:00] I'll Check It Out
ANDERSON: INCOMING!
ANDERSON: Mortars! Get out!
JOHNSON: Mortars! They're walking in on us!
GOLDMAN: Spread out, spread out! Don't bunch up, spread out!
[7:23] Sarge Is Down
SOLDIER [o.s.]: They stopped!
JOHNSON: Lieutenant, the sarge! Where's the sarge?
JOHNSON: Where's the sarge?
JOHNSON: Sarge!
MATSUDA: Turn him over.
GOLDMAN: Anderson!
MATSUDA: Come on.
GOLDMAN: Sergeant! Sergeant!
MATSUDA: He's not wounded; he's just knocked out.
GOLDMAN: Come on, get him up. We gotta get him outta here.
MATSUDA: Here, take a hold of this.
GOLDMAN: Get him up, get him up.
ANDERSON: Agh, agh, agh.
MATSUDA: Sarge, you all right?
ANDERSON: Yeah, I'm all right! I'm all right!
GOLDMAN: You sure?
ANDERSON: I'm all right, I'm all right. Woo. Woo!
GOLDMAN: All right, we're wide open here. Come on, let's move out.
JOHNSON: Okay, y'all go on, we'll catch up.
TAYLOR: Come on, Sarge, we can't let anything happen to you. We got a date back in town.
[8:10] Showers
TAYLOR: You're a real lucky man, Caldwell, you know that? You bought a free trip to the mysterious Orient, got assigned to a STRAC outfit like this.
CALDWELL: Yeah, it's a trip, all right.
TAYLOR: Yeah, well, now you've been a warmonger three full days, Caldwell. You got any questions?
CALDWELL: Yeah, is it always this hot?
TAYLOR: No, Caldwell. This is very unusual.
PERCELL: Yeah, very unusual. You know, it's usually a real refreshing seventy two degrees here, Caldwell.
CALDWELL: So what do you guys do with your free time?
BAKER: In our free time, Caldwell, we improve our minds.
TAYLOR: Yeah, like tonight we all got passes to go into the ville.
CALDWELL: Ah, wh-wh-what do you do there?
PERCELL: Caldwell, we improve our spiritual being.
BAKER: It's a profound experience, man, you gotta do it.
TAYLOR: Damn straight. I'll tell you what, Caldwell. Get yourself dressed and then it'll be our pleasure to show you around.
CALDWELL: All right. Okay.
TAYLOR: All right, Caldwell. All right, Caldwell.
PERCELL: Caldwell.
TAYLOR/BAKER/PERCELL: Caldwell, Caldwell.
PERCELL: Caldwell.
PERCELL: You idiot.
[9:30] On The Town
TAYLOR: Fresh fatigues, clean socks, and shoes that damn near fit, and a payday too. Have mercy. Caldwell, I'm gonna spend every dime of this money on cold beer and warm women. You with me?
CALDWELL: I'm with you, sir.
TAYLOR: That's good, Caldwell. Here's our limo. Go ahead.
BAKER: Hey, uh, Taylor, man, I got that tall girl. What's her name again?
[Caldwell, not watching where he's going, crashes into some empty fuel canisters.]
TAYLOR: That's her, wham bling cling bong bam. Ha!
[9:54] Sarge Comin' Wid Us?
JOHNSON: Coming Sarge?
ANDERSON: What?
JOHNSON: You coming?
ANDERSON: Uh, no, uh-uh. I gotta get this brush cut down, I gotta get the fields of fire cleared out here.
PERCELL: Sarge, what you need is some time away from this pile of stink.
ANDERSON: Yeah, you're right, Percell. It's just the CO's got some laborers coming in here, and I gotta look after them.
GOLDMAN: Hold that truck, Sergeant.
ANDERSON: What?
GOLDMAN: "What?" I said, hold that truck.
ANDERSON: LT, I don't need these guys, now, for the work detail. We got it all together here.
GOLDMAN: I'm sorry, guys. All passes are canceled.
GUYS: Oh. What?
JOHNSON: Hey, how about it, man? We've been humping thirty straight days without a break.
ANDERSON: They're right, LT. The men are beat. They need a break.
GOLDMAN: I just got the order from Battalion. We're going to a hot spot in the Dong Ho.
ANDERSON: The Dong Ho Valley— What you talking about, LT? Charlie owns that valley.
GOLDMAN: We're gonna need a week's supplies and all the bang we can carry.
ANDERSON: The men aren't up to that, LT. You get Battalion to send somebody else.
GOLDMAN: Just get the men ready, Sergeant. We got a few hours.
[10:44] In The Briefing Room
GOLDMAN: We all set?
ANDERSON: Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
GOLDMAN: Is there a problem, Sergeant?
ANDERSON: Yeah. Yes, sir.
GOLDMAN: Well, what is it?
ANDERSON: The Dong Ho Valley. I was up there with my last unit, the 11th Cav.
GOLDMAN: Good, then you know your way around.
ANDERSON: We had three companies and almost a full battalion of ARVN. They hurt us bad, LT. God, they butchered us. I've never seen anything like that in my life. And now... now we're goin' back up there with just a, like a squad of men—
GOLDMAN: Wait, let me show you somethin'. Now, there's gonna be major bombing raids up north this week. Command knows from experience some of those planes are gonna go down.
ANDERSON: What's that got to do with us?
GOLDMAN: Just calm down and I'll tell ya. Now, we're part of an operation called Silver Crown. There's flight corridors right through here. Now, if one of those pilots gets in trouble and has to bail out, he's gonna work his way to one of these coordinates. Our job's going to be to go in there and get him the hell out of there before the dinks get hold of him.
ANDERSON: What? Are you crazy? That whole valley's swarming with NVA.
GOLDMAN: Sergeant, we have got the mission. Now, these men have saved a lot of American lives.
ANDERSON: If we go back in the Dong Ho Valley with one squad and no air support, no support at all, we are dead men. 138 of us out of, out of three companies and a whole battalion came out of there alive last time. Half the bodies weren't even accounted for. You know what that means? "Not accounted for?" Huh? That means we left them up there, we left them up there to rot. My God, I'd rather go to hell than go back up in that valley.
GOLDMAN: Well you'll have to take that up with General Westmoreland.
[12:45] Letter To Katie
ANDERSON: Excuse me, Father, did I come at a bad time?
CHAPLAIN: I'm celebrating Mass in about twenty minutes, but come on in and sit down, Sergeant.
CHAPLAIN: Something I can do for you, Sergeant?
ANDERSON: Well, I dunno, I mean I'm not much of a church-goer but... well, I need a favor. I-I've got this little girl. Katie— Uh, Katrina, we call her. Uh... I haven't seen her in a long time. In fact I only saw her once. You see, her mom and I couldn't work things out.
CHAPLAIN: I'm sorry, Sergeant.
ANDERSON: Yeah, I am too, I am too. I uh... uh, we're going on this mission, you know. And I want to write her a letter. I want her— I want her to hear from me.
CHAPLAIN: I'll see to it that she gets your letter, Sergeant.
ANDERSON: Would you do that for me, please?
CHAPLAIN: Sure.
ANDERSON: Here.
CHAPLAIN: Sergeant... this is just the address. Where's the letter?
ANDERSON: I don't have one. I've never been very good at that, you know. Er...
CHAPLAIN: You want me to write the letter to her? What would you like me to say?
ANDERSON: Just say, uh, tell her... I'm sorry. Uh...
CHAPLAIN: Sergeant, I'll tell her that you love her.
ANDERSON: Yeah, do that, would ya? Would ya please?
CHAPLAIN: Sure.
[15:05] To The Hot Dong Ho Valley
DOOR GUNNER: What did you boys do to get the Colonel so mad?
PERCELL: What are you talkin' about?
DOOR GUNNER: You're the third outfit we've brought up here this week. None of them's come back yet.
[15:33] Valley Of Tall Grass and Bones
JOHNSON: Perfect spot for Charlie to smoke us.
ANDERSON: Let's get outta here. Let's get outta here.
PERCELL: He's lost it, man. He's afraid to step out in the open.
[16:30] Trail Of Mud
ANDERSON (whispering): Come on!
GOLDMAN: Let's take five, Sergeant.
ANDERSON: No way, no way. There's no cover here, LT. We gotta keep moving.
GOLDMAN: Look, the men need a break. We got a half an hour before we're set up.
ANDERSON: LT, you wanna take a break, you should have taken it back in there.
GOLDMAN: We didn't need a break when we were back there.
ANDERSON: No, no, no, we'll take a break up here. There's cover up here. Come on.
TAYLOR: Ain't he duckin' too soon, man?
PERCELL: The man almost got his head blown off in a rice paddy. Cut him some slack.
[17:28] It Takes Two, Baby!
PERCELL/TAYLOR (singing): ♫ Two can make a dream come true, it takes two, baby. It takes two, baby, just me and you... Oooh, oow... ♫
TAYLOR: Hey, how come we get stuck digging here while everybody else is in Sin City diggin' Marvin Gaye?
ANDERSON: Shut up! What are you doing out here? What are ya doing? Why don't you just invite Ho Chi Minh to dinner?
TAYLOR: He wouldn't eat none. All I get is this bone chicken. How come I never get any beanie weenies? Anybody wanna trade some beanie weenie—
ANDERSON: Shut up, Taylor! Now I'm not tellin' you again. You shut up. I hear one more word out of you, I'm talking about one more word, Taylor, and you're out on the DMZ. You hear what I'm saying to ya?
[18:07] Sarge Is Gone Asiatic
BAKER: Hey, what's wrong with the sarge, man? I mean, he just yelled at me, too; said I was digging too loud.
RUIZ: This is Indian country, man. We've gotta be quiet.
TAYLOR: I'll tell you what's wrong. The man's gone Asiatic, that's what it is.
BAKER: Na, na, the sarge— He just doesn't seem like the sarge lately, you know.
RUIZ: Look, the guy's just sick or something, all right? He ain't cracking up.
PERCELL: The man's on his third tour. You don't think maybe he's been here too long?
[18:40] Perimeter Is All Set
ANDERSON: All right, night perimeters all set.
GOLDMAN: All right, I want two-hour watches. Every other man on alert all night.
ANDERSON: I already told 'em. I just hope to God we haven't already been spotted.
GOLDMAN: What's wrong with you, Sergeant?
ANDERSON: Nuthin'.
GOLDMAN: What do ya mean, nuthin'?
ANDERSON: I mean nuthin'. I'm just tired of getting sent out on a limb for nuthin'.
GOLDMAN: Air Force spends a lot of money and a ton of time on each one of those flyboys. They're not about to lose one unless it's absolutely necessary.
ANDERSON: Oh yeah, LT. Well tell me something then. Where do we fit into that value system, huh? How much are we worth?
RADIO: Batwing Three, this is Mother Hubbard. Have your green stamps ready at objective Delta Zulu. Report your status, over.
RADIO: Batwing Three, you copy?
GOLDMAN: Mother Hubbard, this is Batwing Three. The store will be open. Over.
RADIO: Roger, Three. The race is on. Out.
HORN: Delta Zulu. Possible flyovers tomorrow at zero eight-hundred hours, Lieutenant.
[19:44] Moon Over Dong Ho Valley
JOHNSON: Everything okay?
RUIZ: Fine.
JOHNSON: Hey, Sarge. You know Charlie might see you sitting up here like this.
ANDERSON: Oh, yeah, yeah. You're right, you're right.
JOHNSON: You're s'posed to be asleep, ain't ya?
ANDERSON: It's too cold.
JOHNSON: Look, Sarge. If you want to talk about this—I mean, what's happening—I'm here. Okay?
ANDERSON: No, I'm gonna be all right. I just got a fever of some sort. I just er, I just can't sleep. I'll be okay.
JOHNSON: That's not what I'm talking about. Look, I know it ain't none of my business, but the letter... It's got you thinking, ain't it?
ANDERSON: She called me, "Daddy," Johnson. You know what? In my whole entire life, I never even thought about being called Daddy. I never even thought about it.
JOHNSON: So how's your wife doing?
ANDERSON: You mean my ex-wife.
JOHNSON: Yeah.
ANDERSON: Well, she moved back to live with her mama. The guy that she was living with... I guess that didn't work out.
JOHNSON: Is that what the letter said?
ANDERSON: Not exactly.
JOHNSON: Look, Sarge, you sure you're gonna be okay?
ANDERSON: I'll be fine, I just can't sleep. I just can't sleep.
JOHNSON: Look, how about if I run over to Matsuda and see if I can get any of the GI gin for you?
ANDERSON: I'll be fine.
JOHNSON: It'll take the edge off, man.
ANDERSON: I'm gonna be fine. Just leave me alone.
JOHNSON: Okay. Look— Look, I'll be back to check on you later, okay?
ANDERSON: Keep your head down, Johnson.
JOHNSON: Okay.
[21:56] Sentry On A Hillside
ANDERSON: Any action?
GOLDMAN: Zoomies are raising all kinds of hell up there. We don't know how close.
ANDERSON: Any word from Battalion?
GOLDMAN: Yeah, stay put.
ANDERSON: Great.
RADIO: Batwing Three, this is Mother Hubbard. We got a customer for ya. His name is Coyote Two, repeat the customer is on his way. Good luck.
GOLDMAN: All right, that's it: a plane down in our sector. Get the men ready, let's rock 'n' roll.
GOLDMAN: Mother Hubbard, this is Batwing Three. Affirm Coyote Two.
GOLDMAN: Go.
[22:48] Search For Coyote Two
ANDERSON: Anything?
JOHNSON: Can't see a damn thing.
ANDERSON: Well keep lookin'.
BAKER: No, no, check it out. It's over there.
ANDERSON: That 'chute's just like a signal flare. It's gonna bring anybody within ten miles right on top of us.
JOHNSON: Sure hope they can bring him down right on top of us.
ANDERSON: Well, he'd better.
GOLDMAN: Come on, Coyote, come on.
GOLDMAN: Dammit, the crosswinds got him. All right, saddle up, we're going after him.
ANDERSON: He's a goner, LT. They're gonna be all over him.
GOLDMAN: I said, saddle up.
ANDERSON: LT, they're just waiting for us to take the bait. Now I've been there. He's got no way outta there. Neither do we.
GOLDMAN: We are going after him, Sergeant. Let's move.
[23:55] We Are Not Alone In This Valley
GOLDMAN: Looks like nine or ten bad guys having a rat and rice break.
JOHNSON: Once we're down in that valley, they'll never see us.
GOLDMAN: You got it.
ANDERSON: No way, LT. We gotta stay up here on this ridge and use it for cover now.
GOLDMAN: I don't wanna hear that.
PERCELL: LT, once we're down in there, we can move real quick.
RUIZ: I can stay here and cover you with the '60, LT.
PERCELL: Maybe, maybe with Johnson up on that other ridge, then if we had to haul outta there, at least we'd have some blocking fire.
GOLDMAN: Sounds good. All right, we'll wait about five minutes for you to get into position and then we'll move out.
JOHNSON: Okay, gotcha.
GOLDMAN: All right, let's pull back.
[25:01] Coyote Two Hanging By A Thread
PERCELL: LT... LT... there he is.
GOLDMAN: I don't see him.
PERCELL: He-he-he's hung up on that cliff—there. He's still movin', he's probably alive.
GOLDMAN: All right, let's go.
[25:30] Bring Him Down
GOLDMAN: All right, let's get him down.
TAYLOR: What about them dinks on the hill, LT?
GOLDMAN: Let's hope they haven't seen him yet. Percell.
PERCELL: Yes sir.
[26:45] Bad Guys Move Out
PERCELL: Captain, you all right? Listen, we're gonna get you outta here. You just hang tight. We'll tie off, sir, and we'll get you down.
[27:47] Get On My Back, Captain
PERCELL: I'm going to take you down. You on there, boss? Now, get up. Hang on.
GOLDMAN: Horn, Baker. Give him a hand.
PERCELL: Unhook him, he's hooked up on the back.
HORN (?): I got him, I got him.
[28:42] Coyote Two Is A Brother
TAYLOR: All right. Zoomie's a brother.
MATSUDA: Give that to Anderson.
GOLDMAN: Taylor, go rig a litter.
COYOTE 2: My leg... my leg.
GOLDMAN: Captain Slaney, I'm Lieutenant Goldman. Where's your co-pilot?
COYOTE 2: The cannon went off in the rear cockpit. Jerry must have bled to death.
GOLDMAN: All right, stay calm, try not to move. You're going home... you're gonna be fine.
MATSUDA: He's going into shock. A lot of internal bleeding, possible ruptured spleen. I got some plasma...
GOLDMAN: What about his leg?
MATSUDA: Compound fracture, he'll probably lose it. He's in real bad shape. Could've stabilized him if we got here sooner.
GOLDMAN: All right, do what you can.
MATSUDA: Right.
[29:40] Zeke Wants To Leave The Flyboy
ANDERSON: LT, now you don't expect us to carry that man outta here, do ya?
[30:14] Johnson Has Opened Fire
JOHNSON: Damn.
TAYLOR: Sounds like Doctor Johnson opened the clinic.
ANDERSON: We'll have a whole regiment of NVA on us by now.
GOLDMAN: Lift the litter. We gotta get outta here.
MATSUDA: He's going to bleed to death, Lieutenant.
GOLDMAN: Baker, Percell. Come on, let's go.
PERCELL: Yo.
[30:32] Cave In The Valley of Ho
JOHNSON: We made it, man.
RUIZ: Nuthin' to it. I told you, just stick by me. Baker, I need more ammo.
JOHNSON: How's the patient?
MATSUDA: I'm running out of plasma. The man needs surgery.
JOHNSON: Can we get a dustoff?
TAYLOR: LT said they won't come in here. Too many heavy machine guns.
JOHNSON: Great.
GOLDMAN: There's nothing down there, Anderson. It's just your imagination.
ANDERSON: No, they're down there.
JOHNSON: I don't see anything.
GOLDMAN: If they're down there, we're gonna have to wait till tomorrow and just try to outrun 'em.
ANDERSON: Yeah, they're down there. They are down there.
[31:34] Doc, Got A Smoke?
GOLDMAN: Doc, got a smoke?
MATSUDA: Yeah.
GOLDMAN: Thanks. So what do ya think, battle fatigue?
MATSUDA: Anderson? Classic case.
GOLDMAN: Anything we can do for him?
MATSUDA: I don't know. Rest. A few days rest should pull him right out of it.
GOLDMAN: Well, there's no chance of that.
[32:00] Suffering By Campfire
COYOTE 2: (noises in sleep like in pain)
ANDERSON: How you doing there, buddy?
COYOTE 2: A little rough around the edges.
ANDERSON: You want me to get Doc? I'll—
COYOTE 2: It's all right. Let him sleep. Do ya have any water?
ANDERSON: There you go.
COYOTE 2: I was dreaming.
ANDERSON: Yeah, I wish I was.
COYOTE 2: Do you ever think about dying, Sergeant?
ANDERSON: I try not to.
COYOTE 2: Sometimes I wonder what it's like. I grew up in a place called Bedford-Stuyvesant; it's a pretty rough neighborhood in Brooklyn.
ANDERSON: Yeah.
COYOTE 2: God, I worked like a bastard to get out of there. When I finally got accepted to the Air Force Academy... I mean, I thought I'd grabbed a hold of the golden ring. I couldn't wait to get out of there; get away from the junkies, the pimps, and the killing. Look where I ended up.
[33:46] Time To Run For It
GOLDMAN: Taylor and I will take the lead, you and Anderson bring up the rear.
JOHNSON: Yes, sir.
MATSUDA: Lieutenant, every little bump and jolt is gonna aggravate the internal bleeding. I only got one pint of plasma left.
GOLDMAN: Doc, there's nothing I can do about it. Where the hell's Anderson?
[34:10] Time To Go, Sarge
JOHNSON: Time to hit the road, Sarge.
ANDERSON: I don't know, Johnson. I got a bad feeling about this thing.
JOHNSON: Okay, look, just stay low, and stay behind me. Let us handle this gig, okay? Come on.
[34:48] NVA Pick Up The Trail
ANDERSON: We're moving too slow, LT. We don't stand a chance like this.
[35:32] The Chase Is On
GOLDMAN: Johnson, hold it up.
[35:52] Johnson, Hold Up
MATSUDA: Bleeding's real bad.
GOLDMAN: Just keep him alive, Doc.
ANDERSON: LT, we cannot make it carrying this man.
GOLDMAN: We're gonna try.
JOHNSON: With your permission, LT, Ruiz and I can circle around up there. Maybe we can slow 'em down.
GOLDMAN: Go.
[36:24] Evil Lurks In The Valley Ho
[36:32] The Giant Ruiz and His M-60
JOHNSON: Let's get the hell outta here.
GOLDMAN: Taylor, set up a claymore. Let's give them something to think about.
[36:55] The Valley Is Full - Run!
[38:08] The Valley Go Boom!
MATSUDA: Lieutenant, we've gotta stop.
GOLDMAN: Hold it up. Set him down.
JOHNSON: Lieutenant, we've got NVA all around us. We'd better cross that ridge line before it cuts us off.
GOLDMAN: Stash your packs, we're moving out. Stash your packs.
[39:44] Ordered To Leave The Coyote
COYOTE 2: Lieutenant, come here.
GOLDMAN: Yes, sir.
COYOTE 2: Now... What's the situation, Lieutenant? Do we have a chance?
GOLDMAN: Yeah, we got a chance.
COYOTE 2: Tell me the truth, Lieutenant.
GOLDMAN: We've got dinks crawling all over us.
COYOTE 2: Yeah, well, then leave me.
GOLDMAN: No, sir. My orders are to get you the hell out of here.
COYOTE 2: Oh come on, Lieutenant. You can't risk your men's lives like that. You'll never make it with me.
GOLDMAN: Sir, I won't even consider it.
COYOTE 2: You got no choice, Lieutenant. Now I got rank here, and I just gave you a direct order. Now you leave me. Now.
GOLDMAN: I'll mark your coordinates. I'll send a chopper back for you. You'll be all right, sir.
GOLDMAN: Let's go.
[39:56] Do Me A Favor, Sergeant
ANDERSON: I thought you might want your weapon here. It is loaded.
COYOTE 2: Sergeant.
ANDERSON: Sir?
COYOTE 2: I want you to do me a favor.
ANDERSON: Yes, sir.
COYOTE 2: I want you to write my little girl. Just tell her last time you saw me, I was okay.
ANDERSON: Oh, I don't know, I'm not the right guy to do this. You should have Lieutenant...
COYOTE 2: No, just promise me you'll do it. Promise.
ANDERSON: I'll do it... I'll do it... I promise.
[41:00] They're Everywhere!
GOLDMAN: Come on, Sergeant.
GOLDMAN: My God, they're everywhere. Looks like a whole company. We wouldn't have a chance.
JOHNSON: They're gonna find him for sure.
GOLDMAN: We can't help him now. We'll be lucky to get out ourselves. Let's go.
GOLDMAN: Come on, saddle up, let's go, let's move.
[41:20] Sarge Can't Leave Coyote
PERCELL: Hey, Sarge!
GOLDMAN: Anderson!
TAYLOR: Johnson, let's go. We can always say we're doing it 'cause the pilot's a brother. I don't know what excuse these honky boys got.
HORN: I don't need an excuse.
RUIZ: Let's go tear something up, Lieutenant.
GOLDMAN: Let's go.
[41:38] Bravo Company Charge!
COYOTE 2: Lieutenant, I gave you an order.
GOLDMAN: Can't hear you, sir.
ANDERSON: We've get outta here.
GOLDMAN: Come on, let's go, let's go.
